The History Of Clone Wars Action Figures
Even though the Clone Wars were first mentioned by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original 1977 Star Wars, it took George Lucas until 2002's Attack Of The Clones to fully introduce the Clone Wars to his audience. Hasbro produced the very first Clone Trooper figure at the end of the Power Of The Jedi toy line as a "sneak peak" for Attack Of The Clones.
Hasbro also released a few Clone Trooper action figures during the first SAGA toy line in 2002, but it wasn't until the 2D animated Tartakovsky Clone Wars TV show in 2003, that Hasbro produced more Clones. The demand for Clone Troopers at the time was high, and it was hard to find any of them in the stores.
Hasbro has been releasing Clone Trooper action figures since then, and there are many different Clones and Clone Commanders on the market today. In order to help you to find an overview of what clones are available, we hope you find the sections below helpful.
The Clone Wars | 2008 - 2010
In the fall of 2008, Lucasfilm released the Clone Wars Animated TV Show, a series which aired once weekly every Friday night on the Cartoon Network. Hasbro has been releasing action figures in the animated style based on this series since its launch.
Even though the figures are kept in an "animated look", Hasbro kept the 3'75 inch height from the basic, realistic looking figures from the main star wars line. However, some differences besides the look are bigger weapons and less articulated figures, since the line is
mainly targeted towards children.

Clone Trooper Central
Clone Trooper Central is a list of all the clone figures which we have in our database. This also includes all the original trilogy troopers, whether they can be considered clones or not we'll leave up to you.
We hope that Clone Trooper Central is going to give you an overview of what's available, and we'll continue to update our database regularly with older and newer clone figures. If you'd like to compare clone figures with other clone figures side by side you can use the compare-a-figure feature.

2003 - 2005 | Tartakovsky Clone Wars
Hasbro produced a very limited number of Clone Wars Action Figures based on the Tartakovsky Clone Wars animated TV show. The figures were sturdy, bulky, and had very limited articulation. These figures were clearly made for children and not the collector.
However, it's an attractive toy line to collect, because the 26 different figures released by Hasbro is a managable number, and it's possible to complete the set. The look and feel of the figures and the clone wars packaging is also very different from later released clone wars action figures, which might make it attractive for collectors. At the time of their release, the figures were easy to find in stores, with the exception of the three different rank-colored clone trooper figures (red, blue and yellow). Unfortunately, Hasbro
never managed to release a Padmé, C3PO, R2-D2 and Palpatine figure, which would have rounded out the toy line nicely.

2004 - 2005 | The Clone Wars
With the success of the Tartakovsky animated Clone Wars TV show, Hasbro decided to release a limited number of characters based on the Clone Wars in a realistic looking style. This way the figures fit in nicely with the already existing star wars action figure line, and it was more attractive for collectors who were already collecting figures based on the movies.
Hasbro released a little over 30 different action figures, and for the first time since 2002's Attack Of The Clones debut, was able to release a healthy number of Clone Trooper action figures to the market to satisfy demand. This toy line was also the debut for the first super articulated Clone Trooper figure based on Episode II, which has since been re-released many times.
